Sam Smith has been accused of fat shaming by a fan after he shared a video of her eating on his Instagram stories.

The singer was at a restaurant in Los Angeles with his boyfriend Brandon Flynn and filmed a woman sitting behind Brandon as she ate breakfast with friends.

The video shows Brandon pulling a face as Sam zooms in on the woman’s plate of French toast.

It was captioned ‘Good going’.

Sam Smith has been accused of fat shaming by a woman he took a video of

The woman, Lauren Brooks, was visiting California from London.

She said she realised what had happened when she saw herself in his Instagram story later that day.

“It seems as if he is fat-shaming me for having such a big breakfast,” she told the Daily Star.

“He has 9.5 million followers – and anyone who knew me and followed him would recognise me right away.

“Imagine if I was a girl who was even slightly insecure about her weight?

“To have a celeb mock her for eating a meal would be horrendous.”

A rep for Sam Smith has denied that he was fat-shaming, saying that the singer was simply “jealous of her fabulous breakfast.”

Sam and Brandon, who’s best known for his role in Netflix show 13 Reasons Why, went public with their relationship at the end of 2017.

“It’s everything I’ve ever wanted or dreamed of,” Sam said.

“Just like any relationship, it’s important to have someone who understands your life.

“We are opposites but also similar in many ways and it is nice to have someone who understands — especially with the travelling.

“I have a house in LA and am all over the place. It’s great, we are young and it’s good to travel.”
