Who was nominated for the 2018 Oscars? Everything you need to know

Saoirse Ronan has been nominated in the Best Actress category for the 2018 Academy Awards.

The 23-year-old was shortlisted for her role in Lady Bird as the Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday morning.

She is joined in the category by Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Frances McDormand (Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), and Meryl Streep (The Post).

And she was in good company as the nominations were revealed, with Irish talent getting a number of other nods.

Dubliner Consolata Boyle was nominated for Best Costume Design category for her work in Victoria & Abdul. 

Jacqueline Durran was nominated for Beauty and the Beast as well as Darkest Hour in the same category

Mark Bridges  for Phantom Thread, and Luis Sequeira for The Shape of Water rounded out the category.

Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige (Mudbound), Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread), Laurie Metcalfe, (Ladybird)  and Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) comprised the Best Supporting Actress category.

William Dafoe (The Florida Project), Christopher Plummer (All the Money in the World), Woody Harrelson (Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri), Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri), Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water) were shortlisted for the Best Supporting Actor category.

Timothée Chalamet led the Best Actor category, where he was joined by Gary Oldman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, Daniel Kaluuya.

The shortlist for Best Animated feature included Coco, The Breadwinner, Ferdinand, Loving Vincent and The Boss Baby.

The Best Original Screenplay category included The Big Sick, Get Out, Lady Bird, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri and The Shape of Water. 

The nominees for Best Cinematography include Roger A. Deakins for Blade Runner 2049, Bruno Delbonnel for Darkest Hour, Hoyte van Hoytema for Dunkirk, Rachel Morrison for Mudbound and Dan Laustsen for The Shape of Water. 

The nominees for Best Picture are Call Me By Your Name, Phantom Thread, Darkest Hour, The Post, The Shape of Water, Dunkirk, Get Out, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, Lady Bird. 

The nominees were revealed in a two-part announcement this afternoon.

The 90th Academy Awards will take place on March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
