Selena Gomez is said to be battling autoimmune disease Lupus.
The 21-year-old popstar cancelled upcoming Australian tour dates last week, and released a statement saying “My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
Now, reports suggest the move comes as the young singer is taking time off as a result of health issues.
Popdust reports that Selena was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years ago and that she has suffered multiple flares recently.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs. It is incurable but treatable.
