RTÉ star Claire Byrne is set to tie the knot with her IT technician boyfriend according to reports this morning.

The Prime Time host has been dating Gerry Scollan for a year now and the couple has finally taken their relationship to the next level.

The Irish Independent reports that Claire told her colleagues about the engagement last night having been spotted with a sparkler on her ring finger.

As if that's not enough evidence a spokeswoman for the presenter is also said to have confirmed the good news.

The television star has had a very busy year.

Whenever the wedding happens, it will be Claire’s second time down the aisle. She was previously married to radio executive Richard Johnson.
