Sydney Sweeney admits she struggled to get roles after Euphoria

It’s been a bigger struggle than expected.

Sydney Sweeney has revealed that while she is so proud of her role as Cassie on Euphoria, she struggled to get another job following it.

It is the role that made her famous but despite it giving her a huge platform, playing Cassie also cost Sydney her job on The White Lotus.

The series and her role in it had become so huge that she found herself having to “fight” for new parts.

Sydney revealed that she was desperate to take some time off but her income wouldn’t allow her to.

“If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that. I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals,” she added.

“The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”

The reality of being a major Hollywood star is different to what she originally assumed despite the success of the HBO series.

Speaking to Variety, Sydney said that people still only see her as one character.

She said: “There’s always people who see me as Cassie or see me as Olivia. They send me scripts that are just like that.

“It’s the ones I have to fight for that usually are the ones that I want that are different, like ‘Reality.’ I had to audition for it. I had to put myself on tape and send in my audition just like everybody else.”
