We would consider ourselves pretty lucky if we were married to one of Hollywood’s leading men but Deborra Lee Furness is having none of it.
The Australian producer and director has been married to Hugh Jackman for 18 years and said this week in an interview that she gets frustrated when people say that she is “lucky” to be married to the Australia star and finds the term demeaning.
‘That to me is a putdown. [It’s] like you suggesting I won the chook raffle,” she told Australia Women’s Weekly.
Furness has two adopted children with Jackman and said that rather than luck, it is up to people to “create their own destiny”.
“If you want something, you put it out there with good intention and you realise it.”
