The First Glimpse: Is That a Royal Baby Bump We See?

Author Hilary Mantel made the headlines today when she launched a scathing attack on the Duchess of Cambridge but if Kate Middleton is fazed by the Booker Prize winner’s comments, she certainly didn’t show it.

In fact she looked the epitome of elegance as she made her first official appearance of the year at Hope House, which helps women tackle drug and alcohol addiction, earlier today.

 

Kate looked comfortable and happy during the appearance today.

The Duchess, who is due to give birth this summer, was also showing off her growing baby bump (which is there if you look hard enough).

Her visit comes after Mantel’s speech during which the Bring Up The Bodies writer called the 31-year-old Royal a “shop window mannequin” among other things.

 

She held her hands in front of her growing tummy.

Since it a number of people, including Prime Minister David Cameron, have come out to defend the Duchess.

He told the BBC: “What I’ve seen of Princess Kate at public events, at the Olympics and elsewhere is this is someone who’s bright, who’s engaging, who’s a fantastic ambassador for Britain.”
