The Garth Brooks Ship Has Not Yet Sailed: Peter Aiken Issues Final Plea

Will this ever end?!

Her

Just when we thought the Garth Brooks ship had finally sailed, it docks at Antwerp and causes Peter Aiken to submit one final plea.

On Wednesday the businessman stood in front of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications and explained that the only way the Garth Brooks concerts could be saved now would be if Dublin City Council agreed not to contest a judicial review.

Aiken, who compared the entire fiasco to an episode of Father Ted, said: “Whatever is going to happen, has to happen today”.

Aiken also said that both he and the country star now stood to lose millions in the wake of DCC’s decision not to overturn their decision.

Croke Park authorities and GAA officials have insisted that Owen Keegan, the DCC Chief Executive, said all five gigs would be given the go ahead.

Director General of the GAA Páraic Duffy said: “All of our contact with Dublin City Council led us to believe that all five concerts would be approved. At no point was Croke Park made aware of the need for contingency plans.”

We’re sure the folk of Craggy Island would be down with this sort of thing and giving the people what they wanted; Mr Garth ‘I would swim and crawl to Ireland’ Brooks.

Hat-tip to our country music loving brothers over at JOE.ie for this one.
