Former Disney actress Lindsay Lohan has opened up about why she decided to leave America.
The Freaky Friday star left America in 2014 and now lives in Dubai with her husband and their toddler.
She remains one of the biggest Disney stars, but now lives a much quieter life compared to her Hollywood peers.
Speaking about the real reason she left America, Lohan told Live with Kelly and Mark that it was for the sake of her privacy.
She explained that she now lives a normal life because of the move and is no longer hounded by the press and paparazzi on a daily basis.
She told the hosts, "It’s just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life."
She said being a paparazzi is illegal in Dubai, and people can face fines or even imprisonment.
“No, it’s not legal. You can’t even take a picture of someone else if you’re at a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here," she shared.
"Privacy is key," the mum added.
Lohan and her husband, Bader Shammas, live a much quieter life now compared to the days when Lohan was harassed by paparazzi constantly.
She said leaving America has given her so much more privacy and peace of mind.
Lohan was subjected to extreme scrutiny in the past, and said all of her mistakes were featured in the press for everyone to see.
She previously told Paper magazine in 2018:
"Behind the scenes, I do what I can to be the best version of me, which never gets mentioned. I am also human. I make mistakes. That’s all that seems to get reported."
