The Queen had one BIG concern about Kate Middleton when she first met her

Apparently, the Queen had one major concern about Kate Middleton when she first met her.

The Duchess of Cambridge, otherwise known as Kate Middleton, turns 37 today and it’s hard to imagine a time where she wasn’t a part of the royal family.

However, at the beginning of her relationship with Prince William, it seems that Queen Elizabeth II had some concerns about her grandson’s girlfriend.

Apparently, the Queen was worried because Kate didn’t have a job at the time and the monarch wanted her to be in employment before William asked her to marry him.

According to Katie Nicholl, author of The Making of a Royal Romance, the Queen was concerned but kept her feelings private.

In the book, Katie wrote:

“Privately the Queen had grave concerns and believed that Kate needed to have a job and an identity in her own right before an engagement was announced”.

The Queen has a reputation for being a very hardworking member of the famous family and it’s said that she found it “unacceptable” that Kate was without full-time employment.

According to The Express, a source told Katie that the Queen said Kate would need a proper job if she was going to become part of the monarchy.

“Swanning from one five-star holiday resort to another is not the prerequisite for a young woman possibly destined to be Queen”.

Ouch.

Kate graduated from college with a master of arts degree in art history and after leaving college, she worked for the family company, Party Pieces, for a time.

After this, she had a part-time position as an accessories buyer with Jigsaw and there are reports that she was considering a career in photography which would make sense as she often takes the official pictures of her three children.

It’s clear that Kate did have a lot going on and even if the Queen was briefly concerned, it all worked out in the end.
