Well, this is interesting.

Although Princess Eugenie’s engagement to Jack Brooksbank was announced in January, it turns out the pair might have been told to delay the news.

According to a new report from Vanity Fair, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s engagement was put on the back-burner to leave way for the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement.

Harry and Meghan’s engagement announcement – November 2017.

Yes, according to the report, as Harry is a more senior royal, and sixth in line to the throne (Eugenie is ninth), royal protocol means that Harry takes precedence in breaking his happy news.

According to the publication, they report:

“It’s my understanding that Eugenie and Jack decided some time ago that they wanted to get married, and there was some talk about a wedding in 2017, but they had to wait for Harry to go first.”

“The feeling among the Yorks is that she deserves her moment in the spotlight and a big royal wedding with all the frills.”

Many believe that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s engagement actually took place in late 2016 but since Harry and Meghan were “going strong” at this stage, the announcement was paused.

However, the publication also states that there are no hard feelings between the royals, saying:

“There are no bad feelings at all. Eugenie is very close to Harry, and she knows how the system works.”

Eugenie is set to marry Jack Brooksbank on Friday, October 12, where all the royal family are rumoured to be in attendance.

However, while we are all super excited, it sounds like Kate Middleton might have to pass on attending Eugenie’s big day.

If you do the math, the the Duchess of Cambridge may be forced to choose between Princess Eugenie’s wedding, and the birth of her sister Pippa Middleton’s first child.

Pippa is due to give birth this October.

We’re going to just assume – but we reckon given a choice, Kate would be with her sister.

The Express reported that Pippa’s “due date is at some point in October, although the exact date has not been announced.”

The odds of Pippa going into labour the same day as the royal wedding aren’t high – but stranger things have happened.
