U2 Named As The Longest Running Band on The Planet

Irish rockers U2 have been named the longest running band on the planet by Rolling Stone magazine, claiming the title as they have not had any break ups or line-up changes over the years since their formation in 1978.

The four of them have been together for a whopping 36 years, beating off competition from all the other bands in the world to claim the top position. Their nearest competitors were Radiohead who have been together for 29 years since forming in 1985.

“Friendship, health and serendipity have kept founding members Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr together since 1978,” the magazine stated. “They lead an elite group of bands who have fought off death, drugs, dysfunction and ugly hiatuses to keep their original line-ups intact.”
