Shane Filan has revealed that he is no longer friends with his Westlife bandmates, saying that they have “definitely drifted apart” since the band split.
The Flying Without Wings singer said in an interview with The Irish Mirror that while the foursome had spent 14 years together, they had now moved on with their lives and no longer stayed in regular contact.
“It is kind of like you go to school with someone for a very long time and then you go to different colleges,” he said.
“If we see each other, it’s great but we don’t keep in touch regularly and we don’t call each other. People finish bands and drift apart. We definitely have drifted apart.”
The star discussed his financial troubles and subsequent bankruptcy in his autobiography My Side Of Life and said that he hoped it would help those who are in a similar situation.
“It’s a very honest book, very true. It brings back a lot of hard memories for me and to a time where I was very scared and anxious, I had three small children to support.
“I hope it helps. People have done very drastic things when going through financial problems and I hope it can prevent some of that.”
