Who Has Tubs’s Back? Popular TV Presenter Says Ryan Deserves Every Cent Of His Massive Salary

Irish television presenter Lucy Kennedy has Ryan Tubridy's back over his salary saga, saying he deserves every cent of his huge RTÉ pay-packet.

Kennedy said she believes the Late Late Show host gets a lot of stick for his success, the Irish Sun reports.

The latest RTÉ salary figures revealed that Tubridy banks a massive €495,000 each year. While most were fast to criticise the sum, Kennedy said she thinks Tubs deserves it.

“It’s a tricky one,  I shouldn’t really comment,” the 26-year-old said.

“You’d be surprised how much work some people do behind the scenes.

“People who are paid a big wage in there work a lot harder than all of us put together.

“I don’t know their salaries so I am reluctant to comment, also they will kill me! Am I one of the ten? Nooo!”

The salary debate comes after RTÉ revealed last week how its stars had all take large paycuts.

Lucy Kennedy says those on big salaries do a lot of work behind the scenes. 

Ryan Tubridy’s salary was slashed by 30 per cent, from €723,500 to €495,000. Other familiar faces Marian Finucane, Pat Kenny and Joe Duffy all took the hit as well.

Mum-of-three Lucy said we are a “nation of begrudgers” and it annoys us to see people do well.

“I also believe that if you live by the sword, you die by the sword. You get the big bucks to take the abuse,” she added.
