Simon Cowell promised a series shake-up and it looks like a fifth judge for a new wildcard category is all part of the master plan.
According to Metro UK, X-Factor bosses are adding a new judge to to join the latest line-up of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, returning mentor Cheryl Cole and Spice Girl Mel B.
The mystery judge will see the end of the live show deadlock, with a fifth vote casting a majority axing on one of the bottom two acts.
A source told the paper:
“Simon Cowell is planning on including a wildcard category which will be mentored by a mystery fifth judge. There was a creative meeting three weeks ago and plans are now being put into action.
“A fifth judge will prevent the deadlock and add some spice to the panel during the live shows. Rita Ora and Mary J Blige are currently in discussions with show bosses.’
The wildcard category would be the latest category addition to the show’s current line-up, which includes boys, girls, over-25s and groups.
The move has already been confirmed for the Australian version of the hit show, with Aussie singer Jessica Maubouy taking up the role as a fifth judge on the panel down under.
