Yvonne Connolly has said she’s lucky to be alive after a horse-riding accident left her with serious injuries.

The mum of three took to Instagram today to thank those who had sent her messages since the accident.

She also detailed her injuries including four fractures to the eye socket and cheekbone, a broken arm and a “completely smashed” nose.

Yvonne has undergone two surgeries in the last ten days and extended her thanks to her surgeon and the staff at St James Hospital for their top-class care.

Her Instagram post read:

“So grateful to be alive after a horse riding accident. 4 fractures to my eye socket & cheekbone & my nose was completely smashed. I also broke my arm. 2 surgeries over the past 10 days under the magical hands of Dr Kumara Ekanayake (maxillofacial) and the incredible staff at St James. Thanks too to all my friends and family and those who sent such lovely messages of support”.

Yvonne and her daughter Ali competed in the Dublin Horse Show earlier this year and it’s clear that horse-riding is a talent which runs in the family.

Yvonne was previously married to Boyzone’s Ronan Keating, with whom she has three children – Missy, Jack and Ali. She is now in a relationship with cinematographer John Conroy.
