Could they?

As Laura Whitmore announced her departure from Love Island, rumours and theories have been swirling around of who could be replacing her.

After announcing she would no longer be hosting on Monday, she made the shock decision as she admitted it was “very difficult” to fly to and from South Africa to film the winter series and it began conflicting with new projects.

She wrote: “I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline [Flack] for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.”

Coming up with who could be replacing her, MyBettingSites revealed 2019 Love Island contestant Maura Higgins could be in the running for host with odds of 5/1.

But it’s BritishGambler.co.uk who are giving better odds with reality TV star Sam Thompson and former islander Zara McDermott potentially hosting with odds of 3/1.

A spokesperson from BritishGambler.co.uk said: “The latest rumours have it that not only will Laura Whitmore be stepping down from Love Island but also her voice over husband Iain Stirling, who has been a cornerstone of the show for years.

“However, it’s believed that the couple are now ready to pursue new opportunities altogether, as well as focusing on raising their baby girl.

“Meanwhile, another reality TV star couple, Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott, who took upon theirselves to provide their own, hilarious, commentary during this season of Love Island, are now believed to be the new frontrunners to take over from Laura and Iain.

“Coming from Made in Chelsea, these two young TV stars have carved out an impressive TV and social media career following their time on the SW3 hit show; with Zara grabbing headlines for her documentary about Revenge Porn as well as presenting a different dating show: Love in the flesh, for which she received glowing reviews.”

Zara and Sam are huge fans of of the show, and don’t hide it after keeping fans entertained throughout this season with their commentary – especially when Zara’s ex Adam Collard returned.
