90’s kids – The Witches is getting remade and it’s going to star Anne Hathaway as the villain

We feared this movie as kids.

Now, this sounds good.

If you were ever a fan of The Witches or should I say, absolutely terrified and afraid to sleep in your own bed for fear of getting turned into a mouse, WELL, do we have news for you.

The film is getting remade, 19 years later, so fingers crossed we’re a litter braver to watch it this time around.

Although we don’t have many details, it has been reported that Anne Hathaway will take the lead role as the Grand High Witch; the one who called that creepy conference where all the witches removed their shoes and their “wvigs” – traumatising.

An unusual cast for Anne, who usually plays a softer role, we’re excited to see her take up this challenge. The movie will be directed by Robert Zemeckis and will feature a “sociological spin” (nightmare) as well as being more true to the book than the 1990 classic, reports AlloCiné.

Anne also reportedly hinted at the new role in her #10YearChallenge that’s vomiting all over our social feeds at the moment. Sharing two images, she captioned them “wicked sweet”.

Are we grasping at straws or is that witchy talk right there?
