No, Bridgerton season two hasn't started filming yet
"The boys are back in town..."
Contrary to popular belief, Bridgerton season two has not yet started filming.
Fans of the fantasy period drama were led to believe that season two of the Shondaland production had started filming yesterday when star Luke Newton shared a series of photos of himself and fellow star Johnny Bailey on set.
The images show the pair, who play Colin and Anthony Bridgerton respectively, sitting on set and filming scenes on horse back during the show's first season. Newton captioned the photos "the boys are back in town," naturally leading to the presumption that the boys were, in fact, back in town, filming new episodes of the series.
Newton has since added the hashtags 'Throwback' and 'Season one' to his post, to ensure that fans know that these photos are not from season two, and that season two has seemingly yet to begin filming.
Lady Whistledown revealed the news of Bridgerton's second season earlier this year, confirming that the series' second instalment will focus on Anthony Bridgerton's search for love.
"The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion," she wrote.
"The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.
"However, gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue
"Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown."
So, given the prevalence of the Covid pandemic, we might be waiting a little longer than a year for Bridgerton season two. But sure listen, we waited our entire lives for season one - we can wait a little longer for this.
