Filming for A Haunting in Venice is set to get underway soon.

Good news for fans of Belfast, as two of the film’s stars are set to reunite for another Kenneth Branagh project.

Jamie Dornan and Jude Hill are involved in Branagh’s production of A Haunting in Venice, which is an adaption of Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party, A Haunting in Venice.

As per an article published in The Hollywood Reporter, Branagh will direct the project and star as Hercule Poirot. The actor previously played the role in other Christie adaptions – Murder on the Orient Express in 2017 and in the 2020 adaption of Death on the Nile. He also directed these films.

Filming for A Haunting in Venice is set to get underway soon at locations in both the UK and Italy.

A synopsis for the upcoming film reads: “Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo.

“When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.”

Other stars on board for the project include Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey and Kelly Reilly.

In a statement on the upcoming film, Branagh said: “This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise.

“Based on a complex, little known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences.”

Dornan and Hill received critical acclaim for their performances in Belfast, which was partially based on Branagh’s own upbringing in the city. At the Academy Awards, it picked up seven nominations, and won the award for Best Original Screenplay.
