The Chase fans shocked as contestant gets full house in quickfire round

“The show’s over. I can’t remember the last time that has happened.”

Viewers of the hugely popular quiz show The Chase were left gob-smacked after a contestant managed to secure a full house victory in his first solo cash-builder.

On yesterday’s episode, John was all set to face Mark Labbett (The Beast), but first he had to get some money on the table by answering questions in the quick-fire solo round.

Impressively, John managed to answer all 11 general knowledge questions correctly, a very rare feat for the show, considering how varying they are.

Each correct answer is worth £1,000, which meant that John boosted the team’s possible prize by £11,000.

Host Bradley Walsh was amazed, telling John: “The show’s over. I can’t remember the last time that has happened.”

John was, naturally, taken aback, and asked Brad: “What’s that?”

Bradley then confirmed that he managed to secure a “full house”, with a “spectacular” £11,000 in the pot.

After one player was sent home by Mark, John joined his two other contestants in the final round, where they squared up against The Beast. There, the team answered an impressive 20 questions, and eventually beat the Chaser to take home the cash prize.

Viewers of the show took to Twitter to share their amazement at John’s performance.

One fan wrote: “This guy John is amazing. £11,000 pounds on his cash builder.”

Another tweeted: “Yes John, what a player.”

Others were campaigning for John to become a chaser himself, or to take on all six chasers in the spin-off Beat The Chasers.

One fan said: “John should apply for #BeatTheChasers now!”

Another tweeted: “How long until they bring John in as the seventh chaser?”

If John were to become a Chaser himself, he would follow in the footsteps of the Irish chaser, Darragh Ennis, who was a contestant before being employed by the show.
