Coronation Street star hints there could be a new Pat Phelan in Weatherfield

"Who knows with Coronation Street?"

It looks like Coronation Street residents may soon have another series killer on their hands - at least, according to one of the actors. James Burrows, who plays Ali Neeson, recently hinted that his character could be moving in a similar direction as Weatherfield's previous cold-blooded killer, Pat Phelan, after he brutally murdered drug dealer Ronan Truman last month. And, yeah, that was to protect his family - but Burrows admitted it was possible Ali would kill again if his darker impulses took hold. He told The Sun:

"He's not coping very well at the minute. "I don't know what they've got planned for me in the future, but I'd like to say Ali could put the murder to the back of his mind and move forward. "But who knows with Coronation Street? I might be going back there and they'll tell me I'm the new Phelan."

Burrows, who recently announced that he is going to be a dad, will be taking a break from Weatherfield for a little bit as his character exits after Ryan Connor threatens to expose his secret. However, the actor quickly promised fans that he's "just lying low" and won't be going to jail for Ronan's murder. He added:

"He's just lying low for a bit. He's just going to chill out for a bit, and sort his head out."
