Coronation Street’s Bruno Langley has left his role as Todd Grimshaw on the popular soap.

Earlier this week, it was reported that a woman reported that Langley had acted “inappropriately” towards her in a Manchester nightclub on Sunday 1 October.

Today, it emerged that the 34-year-old has since departed from Corrie, after playing the role of Todd intermittently for 16 years.

Bruno denied the claims and according to The Mirror, ITV bosses conducted an internal inquiry into the matter which was separate from the police investigation.

His last appearance on the soap will air on Christmas Eve and is believed that storylines will have to be rewritten, taking his absence into account.

The dad of one has released a statement on his departure:

“Sadly, I will no longer be working on Coronation Street. Acting on the show has been the fulfilment of a personal dream.

“Playing the role of Todd Grimshaw since I was 17 years old has been a huge part of my life, and an absolute honour.

“I would like to thank all of my friends who work on the show for their love, friendship and support during this extremely difficult period.”

“I will make a further statement in due course, and when I am able to do so”.

A spokesperson for the long-running soap confirmed the news.

“Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street.”
