Corrie’s Lottie Henshall on Jade Rowan’s ‘main goal’ after her secret was revealed

Coronation Street‘s Lottie Henshall has opened up about Jade Rowan’s ‘main goal’ after her secret was recently revealed.

Jade, who worked with Fiz’s daughter Hope at a specialist school in Birmingham, moved to the cobbles earlier this year to help continue the young girl’s education.

Viewers had suspected that there was something up with Jade basically from the get-go – and earlier this week, her big secret was revealed: she is actually the daughter of Fiz’s murderous ex, John Stape, and Hope’s half-sister.

The actress explained to Digital Spy that she had known Jade’s true identity basically from the start – but hadn’t expected her develop as a character in the way that she has.

“I thought that Jade would just come in, do a load of bad things and then leave again,” she explained. “But there’s much more to this character than meets the eye and I’m excited for the audience to see that.”

She also opened up about Jade’s real motivations, after recent scenes have shown her seemingly trying to drive a wedge between Fiz and her daughter Hope.

Jade’s main goal, according to Lottie, is to be with her half-sister and look after her.

“She wants to keep [Hope] safe. Jade has been fed lies for her entire life. She was even lied to about who her dad was,” the actress explained. “Jade has also been told that Fiz is a bad person and that she killed John. She’s been brainwashed into thinking Fiz is this evil person – and she genuinely does believe that.”

“Jade is not trying to hurt Fiz because she’s a nasty person, but because she truly believes that Fiz is bad for Hope. She’ll do anything in her power to keep Hope safe,” she continued.
