The 51-year-old has a number of projects in the pipeline and is soon set to star in a new BBC drama opposite Julie Hesmondhalgh.
Julie, known for her role as Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street, will play Shane's love interest and both soap stalwarts are looking forward to the new challenge.

Speaking about the new role, Shane said: ""It's really nice because Alfie is not in it."
He went on to say: "Julie and I were talking about the differences (between Eastenders and Corrie) and there isn't any. We all have the same angst, the same commitment, the same passion for our shows."
