Game of Thrones has revealed its most brutal death yet (and it is because of Cersei)

It was 'so horrible' that it couldn't actually be aired.

Grim.

Game of Thrones has been pretty vicious over the years.

There was the Red Wedding, the Purple Wedding, the battle between the Red Viper and the Mountain (and that result) – and, let’s not forget, what happened to Hodor.

But it turns out there was one character death that was “so horrible” it couldn’t make it to air – and it was all because of Cersei Lannister.

Warning: This story contains spoilers through to the end of Game of Thrones’ sixth season.

Ser Pounce, King Tommen’s beloved cat, was first introduced back in season four.

He leapt onto the bed (and into the hearts of Game of Thrones fans everywhere), interrupting Margery Tyrell and Tommen’s first scene together.

But once season six ended with Tommen’s death, following the loss of his beloved Margery, Cersei crowned herself queen – and Ser Pounce wasn’t seen again.

Now, the show runners have revealed what happened to the Royal Feline of House Baratheon….and it is pretty grim.

David Benioff told EW

“Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce’ so much she could not allow him to survive.

“So she came up with her most diabolical [execution]. Ser Pounce’s death was so horrible we couldn’t even put it on the air.”

Dan Weiss jokingly added:

“If you buy the super-extended, super-charged Game of Thrones box set that comes out, the death of Ser Pounce will be in there.

“Just one whole episode devoted to the death of Ser Pounce.”

Dean-Charles Chapman, the actor who played Tommen, previously said that he had imagined a much brighter outcome for Ser Pounce.

The actor told The Huffington Post:

“I don’t know [what happened to him].

“I suppose there’s a lot of staff around the kingdom to look after him. Hopefully, he didn’t get caught up in the blast. That’d be a tragedy. I like to think he’d also move on with his life and get a girlfriend maybe.”
