What an achievement.

From working with RTÉ, to MTV and now winning an award, it’s safe to say Katie Van Buren is making strides in her career.

Last weekend, Katie a Shorty Award in New York City for her work alongside Spencer Pratt (yep, that Spencer Pratt).

The 31-year-old, born to a New York father and Limerick mother, is the producer of the extremely-successful Snapchat show called Spencer Pratt Will Heal You.

The show is described as seeing Spencer go from the “iconic bad boy of reality TV to the King of Snapchat. Spencer Pratt from MTV’s The Hills is proof that you can really turn notoriety into the right kind of fame.”

In the Snapchat series, Spencer is “accompanied by some very brave social media stars and musicians [and uses] today’s most innovative, alternative and WTF spiritual practices in an attempt to heal both himself and his celebrity guests.”

The show was such a success that 8.4M unique viewers tuned in to see it and it brought an addition of 100K subscribers to the platform.

Of course, creating a show like that – and creating a result like that – is a team effort but with Katie at the helm of the show, it’s a huge success and celebration for her.

The former RTÉ Two presenter left Ireland in 2012 to pursue her dreams of working in New York, so it’s safe to say she has achieved them.

In a 2013 interview with the Independent, Katie said that “positivity, determination, unwavering faith and guts are the tools” to become a great female TV star. “Also, a huge part of it is knowing who you are and being comfortable in your skin. Personality is what fuels this industry.”

Congrats Katie! We can only see her career rising even further.
