Love Island: Movie night is happening TONIGHT

Sarah McKenna Barry

Here we fucking go.

After days of concern over whether or not Movie Night would happen at all this year, Love Island has confirmed that it’s not only going ahead, but going ahead tonight.

The Love Island official Twitter account confirmed the news today, writing: “You’ve been waiting for it…Book your tickets for 9pm tonight.”

Fans thought the show may be skipping the relatively new tradition entirely following the departure of Jacques earlier this week, but that didn’t mean that the islanders were let off the hook.

Last year’s Movie Night was truly chaotic. It cast doubts in the mind of the girls after they saw footage of their men in acts of disloyalty, and it also resulted in Faye losing her temper at Teddy. While it was divisive at the time, fans have been begging for the return of Movie Night this season, particularly given the antics of some of the islanders during Casa Amor week.

Of course, the contents of Movie Night will depend on who stays or who goes following the public vote. For instance, if Tasha and Andrew stay, their relationship could be in jeopardy should they see exactly how the other behaved while they were away.

Fans, understandably, have been calling for Movie Night following Dami’s antics in Casa Amor. The Dubliner admitted his lack of loyalty to Indiyah following her return to the main villa, and while they appear to have moved on, Movie Night could change that.

Prior to the screening, Dami admits: “Personally, I know I am starring in this movie!”

Another couple whose relationship could be in jeopardy is Ekin-Su and Davide. Will he see the footage of Ekin in bed with George? Will she be privy to the shots of him kissing other women? It all remains to be seen.

Before the event, Ekin-Su says: “If we pass this, we’re fine.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
