He’s been keeping quiet.

Michael Owen has spoken out about his daughter Gemma coming in second place on Love Island after seeing the 2022 winners crowned last night.

The footballer kept quiet about his daughter’s appearance on the show from the beginning, and only once briefly spoke about it before now.

After he didn’t appear on the show’s ‘meet the parents’ episode as many fans had hoped, Michael posted a supportive message on social media after Gemma and Luca lost the top spot to Ekin-Su and Davide.

Tweeting a picture of himself and Gemma, the caption was short and sweet, reading: “She’s done us proud.”

Sharing the same picture on Instagram, he spoke more about Gemma and her time in the villa, saying she is his “special girl” and to “hurry up home”.

Michael only previously spoke about Gemma entering the villa a few times before, speaking at the Sky Sports At The Races, he explained why he wasn’t visiting at the end of the show.

He said: “My wife will do that duty. I’ll represent the horses and she’ll represent the daughter.”

“I don’t know what I’ll get from Box To Box (one of his horses). But I know what I’m going to get from my daughter.”

During last night’s live final, we saw Tasha and Andrew placed in fourth with Dami and Indiyah in third before Ekin-Su and Davide beat Gemma and Luca to the winning prize.

Some fans were devastated that Luca and Gemma didn’t win, with one tweeting: “Acc really gutted for Luca and Gemma. If anybody deserved to win it was them”

While others couldn’t get enough of Davide and Ekin-Su’s win, with one saying: “Ekin and Davide are the rightful winners!!! I’m screaming.”
