"Oh, and, um,...this is happening... The #greysanatomy universe is expanding."https://twitter.com/JasonWGeorge/status/907649358996283392 The firefighter spinoff will be the second Grey's Anatomy-related series since the medical drama first premiered in 2005. It will follow in the footsteps of Private Practice, which followed Dr Addison Montgomery Shepherd after she moved away from working in Seattle Grace to a private practice in California. But the latest series is the first in the Grey Sloan universe that isn't centred around the lives of medical professionals. E!News reports that the series will debut midseason, and focus on the professional and personal lives of a group of hero firefighters in Seattle - from the captain and down the ranks.
While it's not totally clear at the moment how Dr Warren will be joining the series, it does kind of seem like a logical move for the character.
Fans saw Dr Warren join the quest to rescue Stephanie in the Grey's Anatomy season 13 finale, after an explosion hit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital - hinting he could be in for another career change.
But, according to the Hollywood Reporter, he won't be hanging up his scrubs just yet.
Ben Warren will be continuing as a series regular on Grey's until the spinoff's production begins - and hopefully be popping into Grey Sloan every once in awhile.
