One of the stars of The O.C. has signed on for Grey’s Anatomy

And he’s got his own McDreamy-esque nickname, too.

Former O.C. actor Chris Carmack has signed on as a reoccurring character for the next season of Grey’s Anatomy.

The actor, who previously starred as Luke Ward on the Cali-based teen drama, will be checking into Grey Sloan Memorial in season 15 as an orthopaedic surgeon, according to TV Line.

We don’t have a name for his character just yet, but the mystery new doc is apparently so skilled that he has been nicknamed an “ortho god” by his colleagues.

And since the upcoming record-breaking season has been nicknamed the Season of Love, we’d imagine he will be causing even more trouble outside the operating room.

Carmack also starred as Will Lexington on Nashville, as well as roles on Desperate Housewives, Smallville and NCIS.

As well as a new theme for the season, it was recently confirmed that Grey’s Anatomy will be having more cross-overs with fire fighter spin-off Station 19.

According to Deadlineshow creator Stacy McKee said “there will be the same amount of heart and humour and action, plus way more”.

She added:

“Now we’ve met the characters… we can dig even deeper. We’ve barely scratched the surface.”

Jason George, who payed doctor-turned-firefighter Ben Warren, added:

“I feel like we’ve barely scratched the surface of Grey’s world interacting with the Station 19 world and vice versa — that’s just getting started.”
