Electric Picnic will definitely go ahead at Stradbally this August, after Laois County Council granted a license for the three-day festival.
While this year's application included a bid to increase the capacity of the popular music event, there was no Garth Brooks-style drama and the green light was given for 41,000 revellers to party with headliners Portishead, Outkast, Beck, Foals, Paolo Nutini and Chic in Laois later this month. This is an increase of 7,000 on last year's capacity of 35,000.
The festival will take place from 29 to 31 August and will also feature homegrown talent including Sinead O'Connor, James Vincent McMorrow, Hozier, Ham Sandwich, The Strypes, Cathy Davey and Le Galaxie.
Weekend tickets, priced at €229, are available from Ticketmaster but Sunday tickets are now sold out.
