If early indications and industry chatter are anything to go by, there's every chance that Reese Witherspoon could well be in the running for another Oscar to place on that mantlepiece.
The 38-year-old's screen comeback is set to happen later this year, with the December release of Wild, based the Cheryl Strayed memoir Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Strayed, now 45, topped the bestseller charts with her book upon its 2012 release, and has a fervent online following for her 'Dear Sugar' columns on literary website The Rumpus.
Strayed's memoir follows her journey along the 1,100 mile long Pacific Crest Trail, in her battle to overcome a heroin addiction and heal from her divorce.
So the blurb goes: With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. WILD powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.
Canadian Jean-Marc Vallée, the man behind last year's Dallas Buyer's Club directed the film.
