The three doggos had a really special bond and all had to be adopted together.
They’re the canine version of the three musketeers and literally “the three best friends that anybody could have!”
A few months ago, the brothers arrived in Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) in Canada, a little underweight but otherwise healthy. The centre reported that the dogs had a lovely temperament but that Goliath, Gunther and Gasket could not be given to separate homes. The team said that:
“behaviour assessment showed signs of the trio being bonded with each other, including high levels of anxiety, searching, and attempting to escape in order to find each other when separated.”

The “gentle giants” stole the hearts of the EHS staff despite their “excessive drool” Jamey Blair, Manager of Animal Health & Protection at EHS said.
In the statement issued by the shelter, they implored prospective adopters to consider the financial impact of taking on three large dogs. They weighed over 52.5 kilograms and their food alone would amount to an estimated $300 (around €200) a month.

After issuing the appeal, the centre was inundated with requests to adopt them. Just a day later EHS had to stop taking applications as they received over 200 emails with interest from all around the world.
Interviews were scheduled and the organisation said they ideally want to re-home the dogs with someone in the locality:
“We are hoping to find a suitable home closer to Edmonton as these dogs have been through a lot of change the last few months, and we want to minimize stress as much as possible for them.”
They added that, through the power of social media, they were able to obtain further information about the dogs and discovered they are indeed littermates and are just over five years of age.
The humane society encouraged people who are looking to adopt an animal to go to rescue centres and that if people are not yet ready to adopt:
“Donations are always appreciated too as organizations like ours rely on the generosity of our community to provide care for animals like Gasket, Gunther and Goliath.”
The centre was very picky about the dog’s prospective new owners, but eventually found the perfect family who had a track record of being excellent pet owners. And since then we have an update from the boys new furever home:

While we love animal stories (if you haven’t already guessed!) the three doggos really stuck with us since discovering their story.
