It’s hard to believe the Love Island contestants had a life before the show. Yes, in our heads, they sprouted up from the earth just before they strutted their way into the villa. However, that is not the case and turns out some of the islanders even knew each other before the show. Yes, according to reports, after Kem Cetinay went on to win over the hearts of the nation and eventually the crown on last year’s series, he actually dated someone who went on to take part in this year’s series. You might be surprised to learn that Kem secretly dated Ellie Jones for a few months before she entered this season of the show and caused drama for eventual winners Jack and Dani. The pair are said to have enjoyed a string of dates in the months before Ellie entered the villa. However, the relationship quickly fizzled out when Ellie was ready to take things further but Kem was keen to stay single.

“Kem and Ellie enjoyed a secret romance before she went onto Love Island,” a source told The Sun. “They have remained close friends since the show ended and were recently spotted at a hotel in Kent.”

Ellie went on to cause some drama for fan-favourites Jack and Dani on this year's series as she had been seeing the former pen salesman for two years. However, after spending the day together, Ellie and Dani buried the hatchet and went on to be mates.
