Some people though, have been arguing about straws online recently.
... And not about whether they're helpful or not, because we all know that they absolutely are.
Rather, people have been arguing about how many holes straws have.
And if you think you know the answer, let us tell you, you're probably wrong.
It all started with this video shared on Twitter.

Two lads are arguing about how many holes a straw has.
One of them is convinced that a straw only has one hole with two sides.
The other is adamant that a straw has two holes that are connected.
The pair try to talk their theories out by detailing what would happen if a vase, which only has one hole, was given another hole at the bottom.
The vase would have two holes, right?
Well, not necessarily because then the holes would be connected so it might actually just be classed as one hole.
The lads then start talking about what would happen if you "jump through a straw" which is, okay, not at all possible, but still necessary to exploring their hypothesis further.
If one jumped through a straw, one would fall out the other side, apparently proving that there is two holes.
People on the net don't seem all that convinced though and they've been arguing about it for days.
Start to agree with one, then the other one makes a good point ??♂️ pic.twitter.com/4fLJ5HL5TC

While there has not been yet been any definitive confirmation regarding the number of holes in a straw, one thing is for certain. ... And that's that you absolutely cannot jump through a straw.Okay I could be wrong but I think a hollow cylinder (the paper towel roll) is homeomorphic to a torus which has one hole, therefore the role of paper towels has 1 hole with 2 openings
