This Irish University has opened an actual NAPPING STATION in its library

Bravo.

A new napping station has been unveiled in University College Cork’s library today.

The EnergyPod allows library users to take a break from their busy study schedules to recharge and re-energize for a short nap as part of the pod’s sleep cycle.

“Scientific research tells us that sleep deprivation is a pervasive issue for University students. Ongoing fatigue could have a negative impact on academic performance,” says Alan Carbery, Head of Academic Technology and Communication at UCC Library.

“We are delighted to offer the EnergyPod in the library so that our students can take steps to feel rested and prepared for their academic work”, he added.

The EnergyPod, a reclined comfortable chair with a privacy sphere, plays music and wakes the user after the optimal twenty-minute napping period by slowing adjusting lights.

“The EnergyPod is a collaborative effort between the library and UCC’s Disability Support Service with assistance from the university’s Student Fees and Charges Forum as part of our joint effort to enhance the student experience” says Ann Byrne, Liaison Librarian for Library Services and Environment.

Excuse us.

The college experience has come a LONG way since our day.
