Teen girl in serious condition after fall from Cork shopping centre

The young girl fell from the Douglas shopping centre on May 18th.

A teenage girl has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a shopping centre in Douglas, Cork.

The incident happened in the southern county on Thursday, May 18th.

She reportedly fell from the top floor of Douglas Village Shopping Centre’s indoor car park. She fell into a loading yard but was quickly rushed to the hospital.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene.

A Garda spokesperson told Her.ie, “Gardaí attended the scene of an incident at business premises in Douglas, Cork this afternoon, Thursday 18th May 2023, shortly before 4 pm.

“A female teenage juvenile was taken to Cork University Hospital by Ambulance services.”

Cork City Fire Brigade also tweeted following the incident. They urged the public to stay away from the shopping centre and general vicinity.

“Crews are currently at an incident in the vicinity of Douglas shopping centre car park and we would ask people to avoid the area if possible.”

Emergency services confirmed the girl was in a stable condition when she arrived at Cork University Hospital, but confirmed she suffered serious injuries.
