Gabby Petito’s family ask Brian Laundrie to turn himself in

Gabby Petito's family have asked Brian Laundrie to turn himself in. 22-year-old YouTuber Gabby disappeared last month while on a road trip with boyfriend Laundrie. Her remains were later discovered at a camp site near Wyoming, US. Laundrie has also since vanished and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. His family have stated that they do not know where he is. NBC reports that the Petito family and their lawyer, Richard Stafford, have since issued a plea asking Laundrie to turn himself in. Laundrie, 23, is currently wanted by the FBI for credit card fraud and is a person of interest in the Petito murder case. "The Laundries did not help us find Gabby," said Stafford this week. "They're sure as not gonna help us find Brian. For Brian, we're asking you to turn yourself in to the FBI or the nearest law enforcement agency." Gabby's stepfather, Jim Schmidt also issued a statement this week saying that the family plan to launch a foundation in honour of Gabby. "We don't stop remembering Gabby and keeping her name out there and fighting for other people out there like her. She's always with us every day," he said. "It's difficult. Where do you go from here? How do you go back to normal?" Gabby's funeral took place over the weekend. During the service, dad Joe Petito sent a message to those who may be in a relationship that "may not be the best thing for you." "If there is a relationship that you’re in that might not be the best thing for you, leave it now. Take care of yourself first," he said. "I would like you to take a look at these videos [of Petito’s travels] and I want you to be inspired by them. If there’s a trip you guys want to take, take it now. Do it now while you have the time." "Gabby is the most amazing person I’ve ever met," he added. "So, if you’re going to leave here today, I’m asking that you guys be inspired by the way she treated people, all people." "The entire planet knows this woman’s name."
