Anyone else see the proposal that happened on the Met Gala steps?

Heartwarming.

Most of us were so distracted by the iconic fashion at the Met Gala last night, we missed something pretty sweet.

Laurie Cumbo, the NYC Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs, got engaged to her boyfriend Bobby Digi Olisa on the red carpet.

While all of the attention was on who wore what, Digi Olisa got down on one knee and popped the question. Met Gala attendees turned to look and screamed in excitement, shouting: “Say yes!”

Of course, she did.

Cumbo later told Entertainment Tonight that she truly didn’t see it coming: “I didn’t know it was going to happen tonight. We’ve been talking about it. We’ve been through so much and this is such an honour and this is such a blessing.”

The couple have been together for eight years and share a five-year-old son.

Cumbo previously worked as an intern for the Met when she was just 15 years old, and said things have really come full circle for her.

“Now I’m coming back with my now husband as the commissioner of the department of cultural affairs!” she said.

Speaking to Associated Press after popping the question, Digi Olisa said: “You know, it’s always like trying to wait for the right time. So when is the right time considering everything that’s going on worldwide? So I was just like, ‘Today we’re going to make it happen’.”

However, it wasn’t the only heartwarming moment that took place on the night.

We saw more magic happen when Blake Lively stepped out onto the red carpet, looking incredible as usual, but fans weren’t the only ones left in complete awe by her look.

Blake’s Atelier Versace gown had all eyes on her, and husband Ryan Reynolds was front and centre when it came to being completely amazed by the dress.

The couple were co-chairs of the big event and two of the first to walk up the iconic steps.
