“Anyone who is in a dark place right now, I just want you to know I see you, I feel you.”

Actress Ruby Barker has thanked fans for their support as she is discharged from hospital.

Last week, Ruby, who plays Marina Thompson on Netflix’s Bridgerton, told fans that she was receiving mental health care in hospital, after being “unwell for a really long time”.

In a video posted on Instagram, she said: “I’m in the hospital at the minute, I’m gonna get discharged soon and hopefully get to continue with my life and I’m gonna take a little bit of a break from myself.

“And I want to encourage others, if you are struggling, please do yourself a favor. Take a break, stop being so hard on yourself.

“And people used to always tell me not to be so hard on myself, and I never really, really knew what that meant.”

Thankfully, Ruby appears to be feeling better and has since been discharged.

In a video posted on Instagram yesterday, the actress said: “I didn’t know what to expect when I put that video up. I didn’t expect to have so many people reach out and let me know how they’re doing and tell me about their own mental health struggles. It’s made me feel less alone.”

She said that she hopes her honesty will help others seek help for their own mental health.

“Anyone who is in a dark place right now, I just want you to know I see you, I feel you,” she said.

The caption for the video reads: “I’ve been discharged from hospital! Thank you so much for the support, I can’t wait for the future and I feel as if I’ve came out the other side. Thank you everyone, have a blessed day.

“Take care of yourselves, don’t be afraid to check in with your loved ones and we’re all in this together as they say in High School Musical.”
