Cheryl set to make her West End debut in the new year

She takes over a role that has been played by Laura Whitmore, Giovanna Fletcher and Lily Allen.

Cheryl has had quite the career to date.

From her start on Girls Aloud to her solo career to her stint as a judge during the glory days of the X Factor, she has really tried her hand at everything.

Now, she is set to give the theatre a go, as she prepares to make her West End debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story in the Lyric Theatre in London.

The play, which is written by Danny Robbins tells the unsettling tale of Jenny, a woman who believes her home is haunted, though her husband Sam is not convinced.

Over dinner with their two friends they quarrel, while the spooky mystery of the play unravels, with plenty of surprises and scares along the way.

Cheryl is the latest celebrity to step into the role of Jenny, which was played previously by Lily Allen, Giovanna Fletcher and Laura Whitmore.

The pop star announced the news by sharing a poster from the play.

She wrote: “Hey!!! .. I am SO excited to be starring in the west end thriller @222aghoststory !!

“I will be playing the role of Jenny from January – April! I went to see the show with a previous cast and LOVED IT ! It is a totally new and exciting experience for me so if you’re looking for a fun night out & some entertainment in your new year tickets are available now….whenever you’re ready ?!! ? #222aghoststory.”

In the comments section, Cheryl was flooded with excited messages from friends and fans eager to see her perform.

Kimberly Walsh wrote: “Woop wood (…) CANNOT WAIT.”

Todrick Hall penned: “Omg I’ll be there! Congrats friend!”

Laura Whitmore told Cheryl what she can expect from the role.

“It’s the best!!!” she wrote. “You’re going to love it.”
