Chris Hughes breaks down revealing his brother has testicular cancer following live TV examination

Heartbreaking.

“A sad day”

In November, Love Island’s Chris Hughes had a testicular exam live on ITV’s This Morning. The star decided to bite the bullet and undergo the exam live on TV to show men just how easy it is to do and how it could save your life.

Finding out everything was OK down below, Chris was happy to hear the news, as testicular cancer is a silent killer and something all men should be aware of, doing routine checks on themselves for anything that feels unusual.

But it wasn’t all good news for Chris as following his appearance on TV, it encouraged his brother Ben to too check himself out and after finding a lump, he went to the doctor to find out he had testicular cancer.

Sharing the news to Instagram, Chris wrote:

“My brother was diagnosed with testicular cancer this lunchtime, in which we pray for a kind prognosis. He came into my room at 3am the morning after my testicular examination on tv, clearly struggling to sleep, telling me he’d found a lump and asked me if he’s checking it right. To which I told him, ‘Ben, it’s 3am, I’ll look in the morning, but if there’s a lump, go and check it checked tomorrow with the doctor.'”

“Today he sent me a message telling me the news, and thanking me for making him aware, else he’d never have known he had cancer… That literally broke my heart.”

Chris also added that it takes just “10 seconds to check yourself” and so, vital that you do or remind your partner or brother, friend or relative of the importance to check their testicles.

Breaking down on This Morning today, Chris Hughes thanked the show for giving him the oppertuinity to do the exam and help his brother.

You can find out how to check your testicles from the Irish Cancer Society here.
