Clarkson named his dog after Didier Drogba, who scored 157 goals for Chelsea during an eight year career with the club - the same club Clarkson supports.
Surprised by a Twitter backlash, with users accusing the TV presenter of being 'casually racist', the presenter defended his pet's name asking:
Why is it racist to name our amazingly brilliant dog after a footballer?
