The star told fans her news last night.

Actress and comedian Katherine Ryan has announced that she is expecting a baby later this summer.

Ryan shared the news during a live recording of her podcast Telling Everybody Everything in London last night. The star walked on stage with a visible baby bump, and broke the news to fans there and then.

Earlier this morning, her partner, Bobby Koostra shared a snap of Katherine standing by the window with her baby bump.

He captioned the photo: “Bringing new life.”

During last night’s live show, Katherine Ryan said that she has no plans to share her due date publicly, but that the baby is due this summer. She told fans that she had intended to keep the entire pregnancy private.

Though she was born in Ontario, Canada, Ryan has been living and working in the UK since 2008. She is already a mother to 11 year-old Violet, whose quotes and anecdotes feature regularly in her set.

Ryan’s Netflix show The Duchess is inspired by her own experiences as a single mum.

The comedian told fans that Violet was “very excited” to become a big sister.

Katherine and her partner Bobby entered into a civil partnership in 2019 in Denmark. They first dated when they were teenagers, but rekindled the romance years later.

In the past, she has spoken about her lack of desire for a traditional wedding.

She told The Mail: “I don’t want a big occasion because of the history of it and the fact women used to belong to their fathers and then belong to their husbands and put on a white dress because they’re virgins. I mean, I think it’s gross and I don’t want to do it.”

She went on to say that she’d rather have a small, simple ceremony without fuss.

Fans speculated that Katherine might have been pregnant after she posted a photo of herself with her hands on her stomach in March. Since then, the star has worn loose-fitting clothes during public appearances.
