Coronation Street star Melanie Hill has spoken out about her addiction to painkillers.
The actress, who plays Cathy Matthews in the popular soap, has revealed that she came to rely on the prescription drug Co-codamol after undergoing a hip replacement.

According to The Mirror she said: “I needed a stick but I had to get rid of it when I was shooting scenes (on Waterloo Road). I carried on for two years because I didn’t want to take time out.
“I was on maximum dose of Co-codamol painkillers and after two years it was hard getting off them. It took me three months to get completely weaned off them.”
