Cut For Bieber: Fans Self-Harm in Protest Against Alleged Drug-Use Pictures of Justin Bieber

By this stage you’ve probably heard that Justin Bieber is currently embroiled in a bit of a picture scandal. Over the weekend, some dodgy looking photographs emerged online which allegedly showed the teen sensation smoking marijuana.

While the backlash has been harsh, we doubt that even Justin thought the following would happen as a result of the pictures. Over the past day or so, dozens of disturbing images have appeared on Twitter which appear to show wounds that have been self-inflicted by Justin Bieber fans.

The Irish Independent reports that the hashtag ‘#cutforbieber’ started tending on the social networking website as his fans posted bloody and shocking images to the singer in a bid to appeal to him not to take drugs.

“You stop using drugs and we’ll stop cutting,” posted one user, under a picture which appeared to show a self-inflicted cut.

Another user posted a similarly graphic image with the message: “@justinbieber Sorry if I scared you honey, it’s just that I would do anything for you.”

The singer has yet to respond to the disturbing online trend

According to reports, some of the images which fans uploaded to Twitter were old pictures that were taken from self-harm websites, however there is still worry about the impact that the trend could have on younger fans of Justin Bieber.

The trend has been growing online since late last night and has already reached a ‘trending worldwide’ status. Despite this, the singer has yet to comment on it.

We should note that according to the Daily Dot, the hashtag is actually a hoax thought up by website 4chan. According to the Daily Dot, 4chan users schemed the hashtag when an anonymous user posted on their forum that community members should "start a cut yourself for bieber campaign." Although, it is unclear whether the hoax is real or not.
