Irish artist Dermot Kennedy has been nominated for a BRIT Award.

Dermot announced the news on his Instagram page last night, telling his fans: “I’m a #BRITs nominated artist!!!

“What a journey this has been so far, from busking on the streets of Dublin to selling out shows all over the world, and then to achieving the biggest selling debut album of the year in the UK by an international male artist… I’m beyond grateful and I can’t thank you enough for all your support!”

Dermot is nominated in the International Male Solo Artist category, and sits beside Bruce Springsteen, Burna Boy, Post Malone, and Tyler, The Creator who are also in the running for the award.

The awards ceremony will take place next month on February 18, and will be hosted by Jack Whitehall.

Dermot had an amazing year in 2019, and it looks like 2020 will be just as exciting.

At the end of last month, due to phenomenal demand, the singer had to add more dates to his already jam-packed 2020 tour.

After selling out Malahide Castle and Irish Independent Park for the 26/27 June, the Power Over Me star added three more dates, in Killarney and Dublin, and we couldn’t be more happy.
