Amy March in Little Women, Alice in Don't Worry Darling, and Nurse Lib Wright in The Wonder. If you look at Florence Pugh's biggest roles you'll notice they all have something in common; the characters aren't afraid to fight back, use their voices, and stand up for what they believe in.
The Academy Award nominee spoke about the importance of giving silenced women a chance to share their stories on the big screen in an interview with Her.ie.
In The Wonder, Pugh plays Nurse Lib Wright, a headstrong, caring English nurse who is sent to Ireland to observe 11-year-old girl Anna (Kíla Lord Cassidy) who claims she hasn't eaten in four months and is surviving on "manna from heaven".
Speaking exclusively to Her.ie, Pugh revealed why she was drawn to the thrilling story inspired by the fasting girls.
"I've always been drawn to women who maybe have too big of a voice at a time they're living in. It's always been something that is incredibly exciting to me. There are and always have been women, that have been pushing back. This storyline, this place, shooting here last summer, was incredibly powerful."
"It's a story that needs to be very sensitive in the making of it, very sensitive in its history, very sensitive regarding religion and science. And that is something everybody was really eager to do well and to really enjoy the whole process."
The Little Women star admitted she loved filming in Ireland so much that she even considered moving her. The actress loved filming in Wicklow so much that she considered moving to Ireland.
She told Her.ie; "I went to go visit my mate Jack Raynor who I did Midsommar with. As we were driving through Wicklow together, I was like I could do this easily. I could come and move to the countryside. This place is amazing. If you'll have me."
