“It took him five years to get here, but it’s been worth every minute.”

Glee star and podcast host Becca Tobin and her partner Zach Martin have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, via surrogacy.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Becca wrote: “Welcome to the world, Ford.

“Rutherford “Ford” Thomas Martin is here and life is already so much sweeter.”

Becca explained that their journey with surrogacy has been lengthy, but that they are so thrilled their son is here now.

She wrote: “It took him five years to get here, but it’s been worth every minute.”

The actress then thanked their surrogate, writing: “Thank you to our amazing surrogate for bringing him here safely surrounded by so much love.”

Becca was met with messages of congratulations from a number of her Glee cast-mates.

Kevin McHale wrote: “Love you all soooo much, congratulations.”

Jenna Ushkowitz, who is expecting her first child, commented: “congrats you guys.”

Lea Michele wrote: “Love you Ford!”

Heather Morris and Jacob Artist, meanwhile, conveyed their congratulations with a series of emojis.

Becca married her partner, an entrepreneur, at a ceremony in Wyoming in 2016. Their marriage was officiated by Jane Lynch, who played cheerleading coach Sue on Glee.

Last year, Becca spoke about her fertility journey during an episode of her podcast, The Ladygang.

She said: “In my earlier 30s, I was having an ultrasound and the doctor said, ‘Oh, my gosh, look at all those eggs,’ so I had a false sense of confidence in my ability to make a baby. I didn’t realize the weight that would be lifted the moment that I found out that I didn’t have to hurry up and keep trying and hopefully get something healthy.”

Becca and her partner then saw a fertility specialist and began the process of freezing their embryos.
